Is your character Dead, Undead or Alive: Alive
History: The world Bonnie and her crew hails from is a largely radioactive crap-shoot of a planet, set in Earth's future, where many of the world's governments are still dealing with the aftermath of the very short (and fortunately far from world-ending) nuclear war that occurred 43 years before.

Immediately following the war, a series of riots and mass panics occurred as citizens from across the nation took advantage of the lack of government instability or otherwise just tried to escape irradiated sections of the country. Things became even worse when radiation-induced mutations began to appear in exposed humans (those that didn't die of radiation poisoning, I mean), which ranged from 'benign but kind of gross' to 'malignant and horrific' to the occasional (but highly idealized) superhuman abilities.

By the time Bonnie, a mutated human herself, was born, the U.S. government had just begun to get a foothold once more, after nearly two decades of near-anarchy. Mutants, of course, have made things difficult for them in many parts of the country, but at the same time many private citizens with their own mutations or unique skillsets have stood up and defended homes and communities from looters and gangs.

It isn't uncommon for a city to have one or two well-known vigilantes who keep certain areas safe from crime when the local law enforcement (who is understaffed and overwhelmed more often than not) cannot do so on their own. This system certainly isn't without its own forms of corruption, but it's the best that can be managed, and the self-proclaimed heroes generally mean well.

Bonnie, however, is not one of those people.

Born a mutant in the city of Baltimore to a family of Vietnamese heritage, Bonnie's parents discovered her less-than-spectacular power: Mild radioactivity.

Unfortunately, by the time they had discovered it, Bonnie had already given them both radiation poisoning in utero. Very early into her life, Bonnie Nguyen was orphaned, and was almost immediately put into an orphanage, where she was cared for, but mostly kept isolated from the rest of the children (out of fear that she might poison the rest of the children).

Eventually another mutant orphan was deemed “safe” for Bonnie to interact with – a child with abnormally thick and incredibly dense skin that would protect them from any radiation that the young Bonnie might give off. That child's name was Leeroy, and Bonnie would come to think of him as a brother.

As they grew up, Leeroy was Bonnie's largest source of human interaction, and the two quickly became inseparable. Bonnie and Leeroy left the orphanage at the ages of 14 and 10, respectively, and for a long time they lived on the street, doing what they could to stay fed and clothed. The petty theft they started out committing progressed to muggings as they got older, and eventually turned into robbery. Their crimes, for the most part, were too small and their powers too lackluster to attract the attention of any competent vigilantes, and the criminal justice system in their city was still more-or-less a joke at the time, so the two bandits (both teenagers at this point) consistently went unchallenged for the first few years of their criminal careers.

Unfortunately for them, this was not meant to last. By the time Bonnie was 17, the government really started getting its act together and, in coordination with many vigilantes in various cities, they began cracking down on crime. After a few arrests and more than a few months in prison each, it became apparent to the duo that they wouldn't be able to continue their carefree, do-as-they-will lifestyle in Baltimore, and so they turned their eyes to the still-untamed south.

They eventually ended up in the city of New New Orleans, an half-flooded city surrounded by irradiated swampland, where the government had yet to establish any significant presence in. Instead, the city was divided into three major sections - each ruled and protected by a different criminal organization – with several neutral areas along the borders between these sections, where pretty much anything goes.

It was in that city that Bonnie and Leeroy began to set down their roots once more. A building – little more than a shack, really – on the outskirts of New New Orleans served as their home and headquarters.

As time went on, their little gang gained more members. The first was a washed-up, former stick-up man by the name of David Avery. Shortly after that, his brother Eddie joined their ranks. And then a mysterious Deaf girl who went by the pseudonym “Mothballs” became a member.

And for a while, things were good for them. They stuck mostly to the no-man's lands, stealing what they wanted, and disappearing into the swamp whenever they were pursued. They had almost no trouble – with a 5 man team, they were able to overpower any store-owner or security guard who had the misfortune to be their target.

They made quite the name for themselves, even garnering the attention of some of the city's leading crime families. And while they certainly didn't run things, they were respected at the very least.

This, unfortunately for them, was also not meant to last.

At the age of 26, Bonnie grew ill and was diagnosed with breast cancer (which she would later learn was already at stage II). While the city did have functional hospitals in it, they were well within the territories of the larger gangs. And, unsurprisingly, those gangs were less than inclined to allow someone they saw as a potential threat to receive treatment in one of their hospitals. Not without getting something in return, at least.

Eventually Bonnie negotiated a deal with the Haitians – the organization with the most well-supplied hospitals. She would receive the treatment she needed but, in exchange, her band of thieves would be required to do a series of high-risk jobs for them in rival territories.

Reluctantly, Bonnie and her group agreed. She began her first treatment, and together they planned their first job: Locating a man who had killed a Haitian and had fled into the swamps, and then bringing the murderer back for the Haitians to deal with.

What Bonnie didn't foresee, however, was the effect that the chemotherapy would have on her.

Their first attempt at the kidnapping was a complete flop. Their target was more heavily armed than they'd expected, and the nausea and exhaustion caused by Bonnie's chemo treatments just would not allow for her to barge in guns-blazing the way she wanted to. Her gang only barely managed to escape with their lives.

From there it became apparent that their hot-headed leader would have to take a back-seat for a while, as far as robberies and heists go. Bonnie, predictably, was less than thrilled, but eventually conceded temporary leadership to Leeroy.

Leeroy, Mothballs, and the Avery brothers set to the task of planning and executing the kidnapping for this second attempt. They eventually settled on a half-baked scheme to lure the man out of his hideout where they could grab him – planning had never really been one of their strengths anyway, it's best not to worry about it.

Meanwhile, Bonnie was left at home to wait.

[This is the canon point in which she is brought into the Box.]

Personality: Bonnie Nguyen is not exactly what you might call a “good person.”

In fact, throughout her life she's pretty consistently been a bad person. She's a greedy, loud-mouthed narcissist who has spent most of her life demanding things from others, be it money, respect, or even just attention. Her predisposition to outbursts of profanity, rage and violence often spell disaster for the people who try to deny her what she wants.

When she speaks with purpose, Bonnie absolutely refuses to be denied the attention and respect she feels she deserves. Failing that, however, fear is a suitable alternative for her. There are few things that she loathes more than being looked down upon – or worse: pitied – and Bonnie tends to fly off the handle when she believes that she's being viewed in such a way.

Bonnie's temper, however, does not imply stupidity on her part. She's very task-oriented when there's a job to do, and while she's unlikely to forgive or forget any transgressions against her, she is perfectly capable and willing to work with someone she despises. Particularly so if there's a payoff somewhere along the line for her.

Even Bonnie is not without her positive traits, thankfully. While she can be quite difficult to get along with, and she doesn't trust others easily, someone can gain her loyalty if they stick around long enough and stay useful. The few friends she has, she considers to be her family and she is extremely good to them. Every member of her makeshift family is held to the same standards as she is, which is to say that the consequences to giving them less respect than they deserve are equally as severe. While Bonnie doesn't consider herself a cold-blooded killer, she has absolutely no qualms with causing bodily harm to the people she deems rude enough to deserve it.

Items on your character at canon point:
Sneakers, flannel pajamas, a slightly-too-large leather jacket, a pack of cigarettes and a switchblade.

Abilities, Strengths and Weaknesses:
Abilities:
Radiation: All of Bonnie's bones and like one or two of her internal organs are mildly radioactive, which isn't really an “ability” so much as it is a “she slowly poisons everyone around her whether she wants to or not” thing. She doesn't have much control over it, but it's not anywhere near immediately lethal levels.

Immunity to the Effects of Radiation: This kind of goes without saying, but I'll put it in here anyway. Basically, her bones aren't going to horrifically melt the rest of her body. Hooray!

Strengths:
Pickpocketing: Bonnie and her adoptive brother spent a significant amount of their childhoods on the street. Subtlety has never been Bonnie's cup of tea, but she's had to learn how to pick a pocket or two in order to eat.

Weaknesses:
Cancer: To put it simply, Bonnie has breast cancer, which puts her in the awkward position of having to choose between treating it (which can be difficult with the lack of resources, not to mention the effects that cancer medication has on the body) or not treating it (which leaves her able to get shit done in the short term, but in the long term it'll, you know, kill her.)

Ego: Not only is Bonnie unpleasant to be around, but she also doesn't take well to criticism or disrespect. If she feels like she's being looked down upon for whatever reason, she's liable to start a fight. Unfortunately, with her illness, she's going to be less and less able to finish these same fights.

Prose Log Sample:[CW: Vomit]
It's been a long time since Bonnie has woken up in an unfamiliar place, but even in the days when she was more inclined to black out at wild parties, this situation would have still been upsetting to awake to.

This is primarily because Bonnie has woken up on the floor of some sort of prison cell, surrounded by strangers on all sides. The strangers aren't the first thing to grab her attention, however.

No, instead, her immediate concerns are with the sudden and intense nausea that's quickly overtaking her senses. A lot of focus is on trying not to retch.

"The fuck-" She gags, and then: "-the fuck is goin' on?"

Several emotions flow through Bonnie's mind as she struggles to stand, trying her damnedest not to lose her stomach's few contents all over the floor: Anger, confusion, fear, anger, disgust and anger one more time.

She's really angry, and the lack of answers she's getting is only serving to make her angrier by the second.

God help the people stuck in that cage with her.
